Located in Cheney, Washington, we are a charitable, sustainable farm dedicated to providing agricultural education and high-quality produce.
Can you imagine this: Your very own farm, 32 acres of lush fields, gardens and orchards; blue skies; greenhouses filled with young plants; a herd of friendly dairy goats munching pasture and browse; groups of children busily engaged learning practical, simple living skills under sensitive guidance; young adults training for farming careers; box after box packed and brimming with fresh fruits and vegetables headed for Spokane's neediest families; visitors enjoying picnics and potlucks in the dappled shade of the farm's Ponderosa Pine forest?
It sounds like a pleasant daydream, but this vision is already a reality, right here in Spokane County. It's the 32-acre Pine Meadow Farm located not far from the cities of Spokane and Cheney.
For two years the non-profit People for Environmental Action and Children's Heath (PEACH) worked hard to bring this vision into reality and operated the P.e.a.c.h. Community Farm at Pine Meadow. For two years there were groups of children learning, young adults training, goats grazing and a small army of volunteers, young and old, building things and tending crops. Sadly, chronic financial shortfalls forced PEACH to withdraw from this community farm project, but the farm is still here and the landlord, along with farm supporters new and old, and some former PEACH staff, have created the Pine Meadow Farm Center as a new non-profit, community resource.
Our new non-profit organization, The Pine Meadow Farm Center (not affiliated with PEACH), incorporated on May 21, 2012 in the State of Washington, is dedicated to getting the farm going and developing the vision of an educational and charitable farm to its fullest potential. We're not skipping a beat: Seeds are planted for this year's crops. Baby goats are grazing in the pasture. Volunteers are lining up.
Now we are reaching out to you. We need your help to keep this educational and charitable farm going. We invite you to get involved; as a Pine Meadow Farm Center Board member, Advisory Board member, volunteer or donor.
